Kitchen Floor |
|
| The kitchen Floor was awful from the
beginning. We had vinyl from the two kitchen and in places
(where
cabinets had been there were patches of other vinyl's.) We
decided to put the floor in before we finished the kitchen--just so we
could feel good about being in kitchen.
We picked out pre-finished oak flooring. We thought with the dogs it would be best just to be able to put something down and be done with it. The first problem was because we were putting this down in a room that used to be two rooms the floors were not quite the same level. In places we used black paper to build up to level. The second problem was the wall we left between the two parts.
We laid out the pieces of floor to measure where they would come out to. And then we laid out the pieces to measure where they would come out to.
This was a lot of work so we finished the one side, and the next day worked on the other. Finally the moment of truth.
The next step was putting down the stove pad.
I got a lot of help with stage. Everyone wanted to get the stove back in.
Some of the crew did help more than others. Skip put the bricks exactly where Kyle told him.
Of course everything had to pass inspection.
